“You were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and inwardly. You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness. But that doesn’t mean you should all look and speak and act the same. Out of the generosity of Christ, each of us is given his own gift.”  Ephesians 4:4-8 (MSG)

Worship April 3rd 2016

Hey, everyone. I hope you are all having a great week. I've attached the songs for the week and a devotional link below. The key takeaway this week from the devotional is "Don’t just sing the song, worship. Don’t just play the right parts, lead people into the presence of God." If you haven't picked up a schedule yet I've attached a PDF link below for you to download it as well. I want to remind everyone that you can still attend the practices even if you are not scheduled to sing. That is a great way to get to know songs that we will be playing more of in the future. Hope you have a great week and I will see you on Thursday evening.

Hey, everyone. This weeks devotion comes from Harvest's website It's called "The Witness of Worship" and it continues a little bit where I left off from in Acts last week. Thanks everyone who came out to practice on Thursday night, and I will see you all on Sunday morning.

Worship March 13th 2016

I'm gonna start off this week by trying something a little different. If you've been reading along in the "You and Me Forever" book like I have, you may have started to feel a deep conviction. In my case, I've felt convicted to be more like Christ, to truly live and react more in the way He would. Last Sunday was a struggle for me, it weighed on me heavily that there were only a few people in the audience. I found myself simply trying to get through the songs, and not truly trying to engage in worship. After the service, I knew that I had to do something differently to better prepare myself and the team for these occasions. I realized after prayer, reading the word and reflection that I've been going about song selection the wrong way. I've been simply picking songs that sound good together or have the opportunity to flow without first asking God or praying about them. I realized from that point that I needed to change my priorities in leading worship. So after praying about it I realized that I needed to put God's word first before any song that we play. So I felt called to start putting up a weekly devotional on this web page along with the songs for the week. From now on I will post scriptures to reflect on as well as the music so that the songs are no longer our only priority. I want to put God and His word first so that we may all truly be on the same page.

And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
Acts 2: 43-47 (ESV)

For some reason, the above passage kept sticking out to me this week. While it's not a direct quote about worship, it does address the importance of coming together and praising him. The apostles were able to achieve so many wonderful things because they believed in a common truth. When they put aside their worldly possessions and came together with generous hearts, God showed His favor. As we worship at practice and on Sunday morning we have to dedicate our whole being to Him. We have to collectively lay aside all of our problems and agendas and allow our self to truly praise him with generous hearts. If we all come together expecting to see His glory, it won't matter how many people are in the crowd. That was a lesson that I desperately needed to learn this week. This week as we go into practice let's put aside our possessions, ideas, reservations and struggles and let's put Him first. Let's allow him to truly be the King of our Hearts and to show us his favor. I've attached a truly inspiring performance of King of My Heart below, I encourage you to find a quiet place and allow yourself to worship him before practice.

  1. Good Good Father
  2. No Longer Slaves
